The formula
mpg = miles ÷ gallons | L/100 km = litres ÷ km × 100
Worked example450 km on 31.5 L → 7.0 L/100 km, 14.3 km/L, 33.6 mpg (US).

How do I measure it accurately?
Fill to the same level twice at the same pump, then use the distance between fill-ups and the litres added.
Why is UK mpg higher?
The imperial gallon (4.546 L) is bigger than the US gallon (3.785 L).
What is good economy?
Many modern petrol cars achieve 5–8 L/100 km.
