About this calculator

Enter the area to be tiled, the tile size and a waste allowance. Diagonal layouts and patterned tiles need more waste, around 15%.

Tiles = area ÷ tile area × (1 + waste ÷ 100), rounded up

Worked example12 m² with 30 × 30 cm tiles and 10% waste → 147 tiles.

How much waste should I allow?

About 10% for straight layouts, 15% for diagonal or complex rooms.

Why buy extra?

Spare tiles from the same batch are useful for future repairs.

Does grout matter?

Narrow grout lines change the count only slightly.
